Colorado Tech Weekly #149 (Now with 30% MORE FUN): Fun Robots and Last CTW with a Podcast

Colorado Tech Weekly Binary FlagColorado Tech Weekly brings you the top 10  technology stories of the past week and the best upcoming local tech events every Monday morning!

As I’m typing this I’m watching an episode of Sword Art Online after spending a good part of the weekend making a game for the Ludum Dare Jam. I want to work as a developer because I think writing code is fun! I also do these blog posts because I enjoy learning, and sharing, about the Colorado tech community. So, let’s have some fun with it!

So, fun things:

  • The Ludum Dare Jam ends at 7pm tonight. I should have my game “Zorg’s Crash Landing” posted somewhere on the interwebz by then. A big thanks to my daughter, Ashlynn, who gave me the inspiration for the game.
  • I will be meeting soon with my current boss to implement my Trespass Notice System app. It’s my first Ruby on Rails app and it’s all done except the password recovery portion of it.
  • In my pursuit of my dream job, I recently bought a Sphero SPRK and have started a big long post reviewing most of the Sphero-related apps in the Google Play store. Look for that to be posted fairly soon.

Things that haven’t been fun:

  • The Colorado Tech Weekly Podcast turned out to be less fun and more work than I thought it would be. Being a part of a podcast still sounds like a blast, so if you want to talk Colorado tech I am all for it but the CTW Podcast in its current form will not be continuing after today.
  • Cable TV: I don’t remember the last time we changed the channel on our cable box. Now that we added Amazon Prime along with our current Netflix subscription and live sports have become less of a priority in our house, it’s time to ditch the cable box.
